Process for Skilled Worker Visa with
Self-Sponsorship
Stage 1 – Establish UK Company and Apply for a Sponsor License
With the help of our registered UK accountant, your UK company will be registered in accordance with the new policies introduced in 2024.
Note: If you are a non-UK resident, you will be required to appoint a UK-based Director initially to act as an Authorizing Officer who will issue the Certificate of Sponsorship to the applicant.
Director can give voluntary services, meaning they will not receive any financial benefits from the business, nor will they have any financial obligations or liabilities.
Timeline: Approximately 1 to 2 months (Depending on Home Office Preoccupation).

Stage 2 – Create and Provide Your UK Company with a Human Resources Pack
As part of the process of applying for a sponsor license, you must ensure your company has the necessary policies and procedures in place to sponsor you as a Skilled Worker and pay the required skilled worker surcharges. We will handle this process on your behalf.
Timeline: Approximately 2 days.
Stage 3 – Certificate of Sponsorship and Skilled Worker Visa Application
Upon the approval of your company’s sponsor license, you will need a Defined Certificate of Sponsorship. The final step is to apply for your Skilled Worker Application.
Timeline: Approximately 2 to 4 weeks.
Points to Note for Applicants:
- According to the new policy, the company must have at least £3,000 in the Company bank account.
- You must demonstrate these funds before submitting the sponsor license to the Home
- You can have 100% of shares and you could be the Director after arriving in the UK
- You may be one of the majority shareholders in the UK business, and the job title may range from Managing Director, Director of Operations and any other relevant role you may take to run your business.
